Smith & Jones Design Consultants

I would thoroughly recommend Smith & Jones. Our experience was entirely positive. As a group of volunteers with no experience of planning the layout of a large space, or of implementing the finished plan, the guidance and hand-holding offered was invaluable.

That Smith & Jones could offer the whole design and re-fit package, not just layout of the space, but the provision of technical specifications to suppliers and contacts with suppliers, and the design and printing of interpretive panels, made this an easy project to manage and to budget. We are thrilled with the result.

Dorking Museum Redevelopment

Our involvement in the redevelopment of Dorking Museum led to the project being shortlisted for The Guardians Museum and Heritage Awards, for displaying a "ground-breaking approach to engaging with audiences and visitors".

Smith and Jones were selected against a number of much larger companies, due to our ability to work closely with the museum's trustees, giving them overall control of the project and ensuring the development remained community focussed.

We helped the trustees select the proposed themes, demonstrated how how these should be arranged within the space, offered cost effective ideas that could help interperet the objects in an engaging way and developed a strong graphic scheme that used various large format images to create impact and vary the concept.

We were able to assist the trustees every step of the way, providing them with valuable assistance during the development on issues such as procuring the manufacture of the dislay and graphics, advising on display cases, recomending digital AV solutions and suggesting ways existing furniture could be used to enhance the character and warmth of the scheme.
