Blaenavon Wharf Interpretation

Newport, South Wales

Newport City Council were keen to use Smith and Jones for this interpretation project after seeing our work on the Chartists Displays in Newport City Museum.

Our responsibilities were:
Historical research
Developing content
Copy writing
Image sourcing
Creation of illustrations
Graphic design
Interpretive panel design
Manufacture
Installation

The interpretation was located in Blaenavon Wharf, an area that has been totally re-developed over the years. The installation aimed to connect the public to the historical past of the site which years ago would have been filled by canals, tram roads and railways for the transportation of coal to and from the docks.
